THOROUGH EYE CARE WITH TIME TO GET THINGS RIGHT

Regular eye tests do far more than check if you need new glasses. We carry out comprehensive examinations for adults and children, with careful checks for changes in vision and early signs of eye conditions. Using advanced technology such as OCT scans, Optomap imaging and retinal photography, we can build a clearer picture of your eye health during your visit.

Dixons Opticians has cared for families in Lincoln for well over a century, and that experience shows in the calm, personal way we look after you. Our appointments are designed to feel reassuring, especially if you're nervous or bringing your child for a check-up. We also look for wider health indicators that can sometimes appear in the eyes, including signs linked to diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol.

TESTIMONIALS

Fabulous ‘within the hour’ service for new reading specs which I’d mistakenly left at home.  Friendly and helpful staff in Lincoln who literally saved me a 6 hour round trip back to Windsor to collect them! Thank you so much x

MORE THAN A STANDARD SIGHT CHECK

Private appointments give us extra time to explore concerns such as eye discomfort, focusing problems or changes that have crept in gradually. We can also recommend digital retinal photography for long-term monitoring, which helps us compare images over time and spot subtle changes earlier.

OCT scanning gives a detailed cross-section view of the eye in seconds, and it's painless throughout. If dry, irritated eyes are troubling you, we can carry out a specialised dry eye assessment with non-invasive testing and tailored aftercare advice. Patients visiting us from Lincoln often tell us they value clear explanations that make each result easier to understand.

EYE CONDITIONS

GLAUCOMA

This is a group of conditions that relate to an increase in pressure in the eye which leads to damage of the optic nerve. This nerve connects the eye to the brain and if left untreated, glaucoma leads to tunnel vision and, ultimately, blindness. Using the 3D OCT scans can allow your optometrist to check for the very earliest indication that glaucoma may be starting, enabling prompt treatment and preventing sight loss.

CATARACTS

These are very common as we age and can be easily detected in an eye examination. In the early stages, new glasses will help overcome the problems brought on by cataracts. In later stages, a relatively simple operation can be arranged to restore sight.

MACULAR DEGENERATION

This is a disease of the retina caused by ageing. The retina is the nerve tissue lining the back of your eye. There are two types of macular degeneration. The first type, called dry macular degeneration, gets worse very slowly. The other type gets worse very quickly and this needs to be seen as an emergency for prompt treatment. Using the 3D OCT scans can allow your optometrist to check for the very earliest indicators of macular disease enabling clear distinction between the different types and allowing prompt referral for early treatment.
